The first thing you want to do is install this beautiful piece of free antivirus software provided by Microsoft. Windows Security Essentials is one of the best antivirus programs I’ve used. It doesn’t slow down your computer and keeps those annoying popups on the lower right of your screen to a bare minimum. Once installed, you almost never have to think about updates or virus security again. Everything is done on the fly and in the background where it doesn’t affect your time on the computer. Please note if you already are paying for anti virus service and are happy with it, you do not need to install this program. Having more than one antivirus on your computer will cause more harm than good.
This program will find and remove just about any type of malware or spyware your computer might find or encounter. While there is a free version, you can also get a paid version. The main difference is with the free version, you must remember to scan your computer at least once a week for any potential problems. With the paid version, which is only $25, the program can be setup to automatically scan for you. Malwarebytes provides a top-notch service and no computer should be run without it.
A feature included with almost all Windows computers, the Windows Firewall is another great device. On most computers it should be enabled by default, but it is recommended you read the FAQ that is linked in the right above this paragraph.
The combination of using these three great utilities will help keep your computer protected from all kinds of bad viruses and trojans floating out on the internet.
